Some of the greatest drives in England are in the Yorkshire Dales with its breathtaking scenery. Three of the best start from Kettlewell. The drives are designed to help you get the most out of your stay.

Route 1.
Take the road sign post Leyburn up School Hill and onto Park Rash with its steep hairpin bends, the hill has been used in the famous London to Edinburgh Trial for over 80 years. Follow the road up over the cattle grid onto the more into Coverdale with Little Whernside on your right at 604 meters, drive through the villages of Horsehouse and Carlton onto Middleham with its Castle.

Route 2.
Take the B6160 north to Buckden at the green turn left to Hubberholme, St Michaels Church dating from the 12th Century is well worth a visit, on and up into Langstrothdale following the River Wharfe up to Oughtershaw. Follow the road up to Fleet Moss just before the summit on your left you can see the top of Whernside and on a clear day beyond to Morcambe. At the summit it is one of the highest roads in England at 541 meters, now the road drops steeply in to Sleddale drive over the bridge at Gayle, then onto Hawes.

Route 3.
Take the B6160 south towards Kilnsey, over Skirfare Bridge turn right sign post Arncliffe. In the village take the road through the middle of the green and out over the bridge, follow the road up onto the moor over the cattle grid. Deep below you on your left hand side is Cowside Beck, and above the scar is the old Monks Road. Continue along down and over the bridge, here you might have to stop and open the gate. The road leads you towards Malham Tarn, a nature reserve. Further along you will see a sign post marked Settle, follow the road down into the village of Langclife. Here turn left onto the market town of Settle. Hope you enjoy your drive around our beautiful countryside.

By Bus

Pride of the Dales buses operates frequent services in Upper Wharfedale. Buses starting from Ilkley and Skipton train stations with various stops all the way up the dale to Buckden. You can link to your walk with the bus, and take a ride back to Kettlewell.

By Train

Skipton is the nearest train station 25 minutes be car from Kettlewell with regular service to Leeds. Visit web site for train tickets from any UK station.

By Air

Obviously the quickest way, if you book in advance you get some real bargain fares. Leeds Bradford Airport is 45 minutes by car from Kettlewell, and Manchester International Airport is 90 minutes.
